This project was an asset created from a project I am working on. I recently picked up the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 as my newest phone and wanted to create a wallpaper that matched the aesthetic of the similar folding screen. I initially thought of the GameBoy Advance SP, a handheld folding game device that I had growing up. It served as a big influence throughout my childhood and made me interested in playing other games later on.
My favorite game to play on the GameBoy was Batman Vengence. I used to play it all the time. This also sparked my interest in Batman. As each new console came out, I played less and less on my GameBoy and transitioned to the better graphics that newer generations offered. While games have indeed gotten better over the years, the ZFlip made me reminisce about my time using the GameBoy. Once I was due for an upgrade, I wanted to make a recreation of the one I had when I was younger. Luckily, I was also working on a render challenge which needed a high quality model of the GameBoy. After some meticulous modeling and texturing, I restructured the model to fit the dimensions of the ZFlip’s screen.
